Most of the Lake Estate’s 114 tastefully decorated guestrooms offer guests private balconies or patios overlooking the lake, pillowtop beds, Nespresso machines, minibars stocked daily, and large bathrooms.  Its 18 lakeview suites also feature fireplaces. 

Amenities include a large, seasonal (May through September), water’s edge infinity pool, pictured above, four pickleball courts, a tennis court and a year-round, full-service spa with a  heated mineral pool and saunas.  On the lakefront, paddleboards, kayaks and canoes are also available.

The Lake Estate on Winnisquam offers a farm-to-table breakfast and dinner venue at the Dining Room, casual lunch and craft cocktails at its massive 55-foot Granite Lounge bar, and seasonal poolside refreshments at the infinity-edge pool area. 

Average nightly rates at The Lake Estate fluctuate significantly by season and day of the week, ranging from weekday off-peak baselines of $260 to $325 up to premium summer weekend rates that regularly exceed $800.   The hotel will add a daily, nonnegotiable $45 resort fee to the published room rates, a practice that Visit New Hampshire questions, in part because guests who might be planning to use the Lake Estate as a base for exploring the region during the day, may be disappointed to learn that they will be paying for the use of paddle boards, or tennis and pickleball courts that they have no plans to use.  And, given that the standard Check-In and Check-Out times at the Lake Estate are “after 4:00pm and before 11:00am” respectively, short-stay guests may have very little time to enjoy these amenities. 

Resort guests are also taking a slight risk, when they make somewhat discounted advanced purchase reservations (nonrefundable within seven days) that they will arrive on a rainy weekend, because the resort is self-contained, and isolated, with few attractions within 30 or 40 miles, and that they will have little to show for their resort fee other than “complimentary WiFi”, which is hardly complimentary when it’s part of a resort fee. 

That said, The Lake Estate at Winnisquam certainly is a lovely place to curl up with a good book in the winter, spring, summer and fall.
