The Hampton Inn & Suites Downtown Portsmouth is centrally located, steps from several popular restaurants and Portsmouth’s historic dining and shopping district. Highly recommended.

The 120-room Hampton Inn & Suites was sold out, largely sight-unseen, on its second night in July 2014. The hotel is at the center a pleasantly walkable streetscape, Portwalk Place, an asset to the City that fits nicely with the adjacent red brick buildings of the historic Harborfront district.
Guest rooms are of the standard Hampton Inn variety, and many feature walk-in showers. The stylish lobby is large, airy and nicely furnished, with a full-service bar and a rich, big-city, contemporary feel that works well somehow in Portsmouth’s nearly 400-year-old downtown core. Guest rooms and the lobby have free WiFi … we appreciate this when we don’t feel “nickeled and dimed” every time we boot up our iPads.
The hotel has a saltwater pool (hold the chlorine, thank you very much), a state-of-the-art, 24-hour fitness center, a 24-hour business center, and is LEED Certified.
Frequent Hampton Inn guests know that a hot, self-serve breakfast is always complimentary, and the hotel offers a complimentary, Monday through Friday On-the-Run breakfast-bag for guests who arrive in the lobby late for breakfast (after 10:30am). Frequent guests also know that Hampton Inns launder duvet covers daily, but they may not know that the germiest places (excuse the slang) in a hotel room are indeed the duvet covers and television remotes.
The Hampton Inn & Suites Downtown Portsmouth is highly recommended by our editors.
