The Omni Mount Washington Hotel, built in 1902 and offering a combination of a grand historic ambiance, modern amenities, outdoor activities and breathtaking views of Mount Washington (the highest peak east of the Mississippi), is located in Bretton Woods, New Hampshire, and it is one of the last surviving grand hotels in the White Mountains.
The hotel has 734 rooms and suites, all of which are decorated in a classic New England style, as well as a luxurious, full-service spa and fitness center, indoor and outdoor pools, and four restaurants.  The Mount Washington Hotel is a popular tourist destination in itself, and offers a variety of amenities and activities for guests to enjoy.
The Hotel’s location in the heart of the White Mountains’ Presidential Range also offers a variety of outdoor activities for guests, including golfing, hiking, biking, snowboarding, and not least, skiing at the Bretton Woods Ski Area located just across the street. The hotel also offers a variety of guided tours and activities, such as carriage rides, nature walks, and stargazing.  Last but not least, the famous Mount Washington Cog Railway, also known as “The Cog“, the world’s first mountain-climbing cog railway that climbs to the top of Mount Washington, is about a ten-minute drive. And, The hotel is seven and a half miles from the summit of Mount Washington itself, via the Mount Washington Auto Road, a scenic toll-road that allows visitors to reach the summit of Mount Washington in their own vehicles from May to October. The total ascent is 4,600 feet, and the drive takes about 30 minutes. (The Auto Road is closed, of course, during the winter months).
The Mount Washington Hotel is a wonderful destination for a memorable romantic weekend, during any season of the year, especially during late September and early October (if you reserve early), and it is a near-perfect option for a family ski vacation, at adjacent Bretton Woods, New Hampshire’s largest ski area, offering mostly intermediate terrain for skiers of all skill levels. Â
Overall, the Mount Washington Hotel is a stunning destination that offers guests an elegant stay at the foot of majestic Mount Washington, with a classic elegance that reflects the hotel’s rich and colorful history. Â
Many regular guests would wonder why the Mount Washington Resort isn’t at the top of the list of New Hampshire’s five best.
